DAY 36 - CLARKSTON, WASHINGTON

JUNE 18 , 2014

"Yeah", today is a free day.  Which means we get to do anything we want to do today.   We started with the staff making all of us a pancake and sausage breakfast.  The breakfast was from 8:00 to 10:00, and almost all of the caravan gradually made their way to the breakfast room.

Here are a few of us enjoying the
food and conversation
Phil made Jim a very special Pancake.

Isn't that cute!!!!!!

Their smiles tell it all

Our RV park is located in Clarkston, WA, across the river from Lewiston, Idaho.  Lewiston's fame is the first territorial Capital.

Lewiston's welcome sign

Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington, were named after Lewis and Clark.  They are separated by the Snake river. This sure makes a beautiful setting for the two towns.

Later in the morning we ventured out to see the two towns.  We visited the Pioneer Park, and saw Sacajawea's Fountain, and some art honoring the Nez Perce Indians.

Lewiston's first bridge(18th Street Bridge) across the Clearwater River was constructed in 1913.  It was replaced in 1951.
Early efforts for a bridge were opposed by ferryboat owners, but other business leaders recognized the need for a link to northern communities.  Spanning 780 feet, its steel girders and railings were painted green and red.  The wooden deck was 19 feet wide to accommodate large wagons.  Automobiles and heavy trucks soon challenged the design.

As this is a free day, Rexine treated herself to a pedicure.

Now this is one happy camper
And many others participated in playing cards, dominoes, T-shirt designs, and, of course, coach work.

The girls must be winning in dominoes
(they are just too happy)

This Hand and Foot game is just too serious

Last but not least.  Don is cooking our Cajun dinner.

Wow!  we get jambalaya tonight

It doesn't get better then this.

Another beautiful day.
