DAY 31 - HELENA,MONTANA TO DILLON, MONTANA

JUNE 13 , 2014

We awoke this morning to rain drumming on our coach roofs.  By the time we had slickers and ponchos out, the rain had stopped

Aside from one mechanical problem and occasional light showers on the road, the day turned out to be another good travel day.

Rig #21 is parked on the road.  All problems resolved before we got there.

Our first stop was the Wheat Montana Bakery. An excellent stop for cinnamon rolls, breads, and etc.

A few of the RV's line up at the Bakery parking lot.

WOW look at those delicious rolls.

Here we are with our take home bags.

From there we traveled to the Headwaters State Park.  This is the Headwaters of the Missouri River

When the Corps of Discovery came up the Missouri River, they ran into the forks of three rivers. They could have named one of the rivers the Missouri, but instead Lewis and Clark decided to name each river. Therefore, we have traveled the Missouri River from where it flows into the Mississippi to its headwaters at Three Forks. The Missouri River is the longest in North America.
The Captains named the top river the Jefferson (for the President), the middle one the Madison (for the Sec’y of State) and the lower one the Gallatin (for the Sec’y of the Treasury).
Like ourselves, the Corps traveled the Jefferson and they could look to the west and see the snow on the Rocky Mountains. They were here in early July, we are here in mid-June. How would you feel about having to travel through those mountains?

Here is a picture from Google showing the Headwaters

After leaving the Headwaters we traveled through the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park.

and through the town called Three Forks where there was a hotel called:  Sacajawea Hotel.

And then through a small town called Whitehall (city of Lewis & Clark Murals).  There were many, many murals scattered through out the town.

Here is a mural of Sacajawea

Another beautiful mural

As we moved on toward Dillon the scenery was just beautiful.

The rain went away and now we can see everything

We arrived just in time for another social.  It looks like everyone decided to bring their special recipe tonight.
Let me in there before it is all gone.
