DAY 30 - HELENA, MT

JUNE 12, 2014

We all loaded the bus for a tour of the big city of Helena, Montana.  The day started with us drawing cards for our seat placement on the bus.  I drew a great card.  I got the 6 of hearts.  Which means we sit 6 seats behind the driver (knowing that our driver had a heart, was best way for me to remember that we got to sit behind the driver).

I sure hope I get a good seat on the bus

Next we were off the see the Historical Society Museum.  This was one terrific Museum.  I wish we could have stayed longer.  The first place the girls go to was the gift shop and then on to the the real reason we are here.  We saw a display of a Buffalo Jump, several displays of how people lived in the 1800's.

The Gift Shop at the Historical Society Museum.  So many things to buy, with so little time..

Typical room of the 1800's

They are just having too much fun

After the museum, we all climbed aboard the 'Helena Tour Train' for a narrated tour of Helena.

All Aboard

Is she smiling because this is the 'Last Chance Tour', or does she already love us.

After the wonderful tour of Helena, we headed for the Capital building.  This was a very  beautiful and ornate building.

The floors and the wood work was beautiful at the Capital

Is Jim holding up the column or is the column holding him up?

Wow look at that ceiling!  This picture show you just half of the ceiling.

One more set of stairs and we are out of here.

Notice the large painting by C.M. Russell
on the front wall of the House Chamber

With everyone hungry, the bus took us to the Silver Star Steakhouse restaurant.  The meal was wonderful, and the restaurant was beautiful, and they were able to serve all 50 of us in the allotted time.

Cal & Mary Kay are eagerly awaiting their food.

After lunch we again we got into the bus, and the driver took us to 'Great Northern Carousel and Ice Cream shop'.

The Carousel with it's many animals.

Janice and Mark are sharing their ice cream. (yum-yum)
Everyone had ice cream and now they are just relaxing.

The evening ended with a social (lots and lots of food) and a travel briefing.

Looks like they cleaned their plates very well.
This is a very sad day for our group.  Because Joe and Danni (Tail Gunner's) are leaving us. We will miss them. They were SUPER and truly appreciated by everyone.
