DAY 5 - TRAVEL TO PLATTE CITY, MO
May 18, 2014

What --- you didn't listen to the driver's meeting either?
The group travelled several different routes today.  Those that followed Highway 94 found some winding roads, sharp turns and a few steep pitches.  But by evening, everyone arrived in Platte City with stories to tell.

Sign painters get shaky from to many fumes.

En-route some visited the home of Daniel Boone.

Daniel Boone, a real American Frontiersman

A building as durable as his stories.

Daniel was famous for leading settlers west through the Cumberland Gap.  This home belonged to Daniel Boone's son Nathan, In his later years, Daniel lived with his son until his death.  The home was started in 1803 and completed in 1810.

Withstands the test of time, better than Roland

Taller too!
Also on the property was a "frontier village".  Several historic buildings were moved here from other locations to create the village.

This Village is a moving experience.

The buildings have stories of their own

Portions of the road passed through winery country.

Maybe the road signs weren't from paint fumes.

America the Beautiful!

Once back on I-70, we crossed the Missouri River and headed to Platte City.

Oregon is this way.

The group helped celebrate the first of many birthdays that will be included in this trip.

Happy Birthday Mark

I don't need no driver's meeting!
